Dagelijks leven in Ijsland/My daily life in Iceland

If ever you thought life was different here, you were wrong. Really?? Well, you decide. Most of the comments to the pictures are written in English, some of them in Flemish, and a few words here and there in Icelandic. Just to throw you off.

Jonatan lost his third tooth: he already has two new bottom teeth, but now he will have to do without one top one for a while Posted by Picasa

We just got back from our last camping trip this summer: friday evening and saturday the weather was wonderful, sunday the weather was awful (at least in the morning), but we had a great time with the two main ingredients for a perfect summer weekend: good company and good food.  Posted by Picasa

What's cooking in the witchs pot?  Posted by Picasa

Icelandic Summer: we had a wonderful weekend in the south of Iceland, not far from Skalholt, from left to right: Brynja, Valdimar, Gretar, Nonni, Berglind and Tota and Jon Svan standing behind them Posted by Picasa

Brynja Oskarsdottir with Pjakkur which is the new dog Thorarinn got, he is truly a lapdog, I am sure Rachel (Leah s friend) would just LOVE him.  Posted by Picasa

Its a dogs life! When Nonni layed down on the blanket, Snupa - Valdimars dog - did exactly the same..hilarious! Posted by Picasa

So we are digging up our backyard, and putting in sand instead. It is not completely finished yet, but we are getting there. Posted by Picasa

Between our garden and the neighbours' , Nonni and Bardur have made a fence, which is starting to look good (we still have to make repairs to the cement underthingie) Posted by Picasa

Esjan-July 22nd, the weather was perfect, and this time all four of us made it to the top, as opposed to 3 years ago when we did not trust to let Jonatan go the last 50 meters. The trip up and down including stops, lunch, a few small mishaps and picture taking took about 3 hours. Posted by Picasa

Yesterday, there was a huge sail ship in the Reykjavik harbour, attracting hundreds of curious people (including us) who were enjoying the first wonderful summerevening with SUN here in Reykjavk this summer!  Posted by Picasa

In this picture Jonatan is warming up for Italy, posing with two Russian sailors, just as he did with two italian policemen two years ago Posted by Picasa

Jonatan caught 4 fish. One was sooooo big, it tore the wheel from the fishing rod and disappeared into the water!  Posted by Picasa

Thorarinn Jon Svan- son with the first catch of the day: it was his birthday (he is 9) so it is very appropriate that he caught the first one.  Posted by Picasa

163 days til Christmas - do I need to say more Posted by Picasa

We visited the christmas house in Akureyri, and this little "turf house" was outside in the garden.  Posted by Picasa

We were looking for the sun, but spent most of the time inside our trailer, playing games and trying to figure out whether the weather was going to get better or worse....3 days in Akureyri and ONCE we managed to eat our hot dogs outside, all other meals had to be consumed inside the tent... Posted by Picasa

Summer in Iceland: these kids have been playing together a lot lately, both inside and outside...Elin, Enok, Jonatan and Jakob Martin Posted by Picasa

This past weekend, the first big summer weekend, we went for our annual family reunion weekend trip to Husafell, and although this time we were not all there, we still made some good memories, as my husband calls this. From left to right on this picture: Halli, Brynhildur, Kristin Fjola, Asthildur, Kiddi, Steingerdur, Helga Maria (not looking), Jon Bergthor, and yours truly. Posted by Picasa

Johnny with his wild hair!  Posted by Picasa

Of course, Elin, our experienced jockey had no trouble with horse. Posted by Picasa

Jonatan went horseback riding for the first time in his life at Bjarnastadir. After 10 minutes he knew everything there is to know about it - at least that is what he said. The horses name is Dora Posted by Picasa
