Dagelijks leven in Ijsland/My daily life in Iceland

If ever you thought life was different here, you were wrong. Really?? Well, you decide. Most of the comments to the pictures are written in English, some of them in Flemish, and a few words here and there in Icelandic. Just to throw you off.

This picture was taken earlier this week, when they came and put 3 steel beams on top of the roof which were welted to the frame of the house and will carry the weight of the roof.  Posted by Picasa

And this is how it looks from the outside. I know, a lot of junk, but hey, this is a building site! Behind the trees (the people who are reading this and think WHAT TREES? - have not been in Iceland yet, because these bushes are considered very large trees in Iceland!) you can make out the addition to our house. Posted by Picasa

This picture is taken standing in our "old" living room, now the roof is closed at least, and the glass has been taken out of the old window. Hopefully this week Bjossi the bore will come and remove this wall.  Posted by Picasa

This is how the roof looked towards the end of the week, before is was closed. You can see the ocean in the distance, the old peoples home, and some neighbouring houses. On the roof we put wooden boards (1x 6 "- as Norm would say) and then tar-paper , before the zinc coated sheets go on top... Posted by Picasa

Jonatan has not been feeling well the last half of the week. He has no fever, but his stomach has been upset. He is feeling a little better today, Sunday, but doesnt feel hungry.  Posted by Picasa

Happy birthday to you / Til hamingju med afmaelid/ Gelukkige verjaardag/Feliz cumple anos!
The big birthday week of the year has passed again, and two more children were added to the birthdaylist, as Eyja (Helgi´s daughter) had a healthy, lovely princess...Ingadottir (first name not known yet) on the 1st of October. That same day, Sissa, Elín´s best friend, became "big sister" for the second time of a girl ....Audunsdottir, (first name not known yet either) Both mothers and daughters are doing great.
But our main birthday events were of course Elin who was thrilled with all the excitement, Brynja, and of course amma Gusta. So little did we miss the craftsmen who were supposed to show up this week! September has come to an end and opposed to so many previous months, this has been the coldest one on record - EVER ... So as you can see - this is about the same as last week. Nonni is - again - trying to dry out our inside "swimming pool" - and the weather forecast is not encouraging at all.  Posted by Picasa

Eating at American Style: I think the poster of the woman on the wall said it all: they had a little bit too much sugar! (or salt?) Posted by Picasa

At the end of her party: from left to right: Berglind, Maria Jona, Sissa, Elin, Asdis and Brynja: Lonely, I am so lonely, I have nobody...is their favorite song these days. Posted by Picasa
