Dagelijks leven in Ijsland/My daily life in Iceland

If ever you thought life was different here, you were wrong. Really?? Well, you decide. Most of the comments to the pictures are written in English, some of them in Flemish, and a few words here and there in Icelandic. Just to throw you off.

The works from another angle Posted by Picasa

The Works in progress: we have put the plaster walls up and are waiting for the painters to fill the gaps in between etc, and for the fire insert to arrive in Iceland... things are moving a bit slower then expected, but then again I did suspect this.  Posted by Picasa

A picture of Marla and me, underneath the symbolic representatives of other women in the family: tante Antonie, tante Frieda and Mama. Those who know will understand Posted by Picasa

Marla was here and for those who don't know: she was an American exchange student living with tante Frieda and Nonke Bert in Belgium the same year I was an exchange student here in Iceland. We had heard many stories about each other, but never actually met, so it was great to finally get together. This picture is of Marla in Krýsuvík, and although it was cold, it was a picture perfect day. I certainly hope we get a chance to get together again! Posted by Picasa

Jonatan held a birthday party for the boys of his class, and here they are: top left to right: Nökkvi, Gudmundur, Tryggvi (who is actually as much related to Jonatan as Niels, Jelle Damien or Anouck etc.), Mani - bottom row: Benjamin, Haraldur, Jónatan, Eyþór, Stefan Posted by Picasa

I want to call this the inefficiency of the Icelandic mail service. We got Christmas package from Leah: yesterday and it was mailed before X-mas: but because it came so unexpected the kids were even more happy I think than if it would have come around Dec. 25th. The chewing gum bag was not a lesser hit than the other presents, to say the least! Posted by Picasa

Carnival in Iceland: I thought this kid had the most original outfit - it turned out that he was/is a classmate of Elin Posted by Picasa

Elin and Sissa: mice Posted by Picasa

It was carnival here in Iceland. The girls (Elin with girlfriend Sissa) dressed Jonatan as a hippie, and Jonatans best friend Benjamin was a Ninja sort of guy. It was freezing cold outside but they had a lot of fun Posted by Picasa

This is Anouck, and mama and Jonatan of course. She is Sofie and Chris' little girl, and I totally forgot to take a picture of them, which tells you a little bit about who the center of attention was... she is just such a beautiful, good girl! Posted by Picasa
